Heavenly Country

Devon is renowned for its abundance of glorious countryside, rolling hills, miles of coastal paths, ancient woodland and moors, puncuated by picture perfect villages. Explore it all on foot using the extensive public foot paths. These are of varying levels of difficulty and suitable for many. Or, you may prefer to hire a bike and enjoy the network of cycle paths, many miles of which are now dedicated and away from roads for a more relaxed and uninterrupted cycle ride. For the more adventurous, take a bike 'off road' and head to Dartmoor for the rugged terrain and adrenaline boost!

Althernatively, many of the rivers, canals and estuaries offer boat rides for a leisurely jaunt and sedate way to view the beautiful views and wildlife. Whichever you choose, nature enthusiasts will marvel at the wealth of wild flora and fauna to spot along the way.

A trip to the countryside wouldn't be complete without a trip to one of our old pubs for a well deserved pit stop or a traditional cream tea - ensure you make it the Devon way with a large dollop of clotted cream spread onto your cut scone, followed by a generous spoon of jam. Devon heaven indeed! Many of our hotels and restaurants now offer a quinessential afternoon tea - a great excuse to splash out on one of life's little luxuries.
