 - The 'last castle to be built in England'

Castle Drogo is set above the Teign Gorge with dramatic views over Dartmoor, and is situated in England’s highest National Trust garden.  Castle Drogo was designed by Sir Edwin Lutyens between 1910 - 1913 for Sir Julius Drewe, who was a self-made millionaire whose chain of home and colonial stores enabled him to retire in 1899 at the age of 33. One of the most remarkable works of Sir Edwin Lutyens, Castle Drogo was finally completed in 1931 after 21years.
The property is situated at a height of nearly 300 metres within Dartmoor National Park and can experience extreme weather conditions. Approach lane is narrow with tight corners. Appropriate clothing and footwear is recommended – an authentic Dartmoor experience then!
