Situated on the cliff top above Budleigh Salterton, at the western end of the World Heritage Jurassic Coast, the Club commands magnificent views along the coast.
On a clear day Berry Head is visible to the south west and to the east the high point of the distant Portland Bill in Dorset can be seen 35 miles away.
East Devon is regarded by many as one of the finest courses in the South West and is well reviewed in the Top 100 Golf Courses of the British Isles.
At 6231 yards, it is not a long course, but offers a fair and interesting test of golf that requires accurate shot-making in order to score well. The fairways have been cut through a profusion of heather and gorse and, according to Peter Alliss, the 16th tee provides ‘the best view in golf’.
Thanks to its excellent drainage the course is rarely closed due to rain, though, occasionally, a mist rolls in from the Channel, and so checking the local weather forecast is advisable, particularly if travelling any distance to play the course.

A mature scenic parkland course with water coming into play on several holes.
A challenging course for both the experienced and the novice golfer with extensive natural woodland, but easy walking. Very close to the A38, which makes the course an ideal venue for visitors and societies. Full catering and bar facilities available, and a friendly welcome guaranteed.
Although the present Golf Club dates from 1931 the origins can be traced back to 1894 when Major Harold St Maur created a 9- hole course on his own estate, which was interwoven with the Stover pheasant shoot. The present trolley shed was the pheasant-rearing shed! In 1931 work commenced on constructing a James Braid designed golf course at the present location.
Situated very close to the A38 Plymouth Expressway and 3 miles north of Newton Abbot, Stover Golf Club is one of the most popular courses in South Devon. Visitors are most welcome and will appreciate the setting, warm welcome and friendly atmosphere of the Club.
