St. Olaves is a small, intimate, character hotel situated in the heart of the historic City of Exeter. You will discover this “oasis” of a hotel sitting resplendent in its own Walled Garden in the oldest part of the city, yet only 400 Yards from the Cathedral itself. Here peace still prevails and you will find it hard to believe that you are in the centre of a metropolis with the song of birds and the gentle flow of an ornamental Fountain.

Accommodation
15 ensuite bedrooms including 2 suites. Alternatively there is a one bedroom apartment or a three bedroom house located in a beautiful Medieval building within the grounds of the hotel. These are available for both short and long term stays.

Guest Facilities
All bedrooms have recently been refurbished in keeping with the style of the hotel but with modern touches. Many of our rooms overlook the walled garden.

Weddings
St. Olaves is licensed for Civil Ceremonies both at the Hotel and in the historic 11th Century Mint Building, in the grounds of the Hotel itself.

Dining
Dining at St. Olaves is always special, whether it be a Candlelit dinner for two or a meal with friends. Two Private Dining Rooms are ideal for larger Dinner Parties and again, as with the rest of the hotel, the experience is more akin to dining in a private town house than a hotel.  Service is attentive but unobtrusive. The Seasonal Menu features fresh, local produce and is executed in a simple way combining the best elements of both traditional and contemporary styles.

A Lounge, Bar and Conservatory offers a relaxing environment from which to enjoy a pre or post dinner drink.

Gardens & Grounds
St. Olaves stands in its own walled garden with its ornamental fountain. A wide variety of flowering shrubs enhance the feeling of being in another world. The heady scent of Rosemary, Wisteria, and Lilac wafts around the courtyard.

How to get to St. Olaves.
The Hotel itself is located in Mary Arches Street at the top of Fore Street, opposite the multi storey carpark. It is accessed through an archway and there is private parking available.

St Olaves certainly stands out from the crowd. We offer the intimacy of a small hotel where guests feel that they have arrived in a private house but with all the modern hotel facilities. Our welcome dispenses with the formality normally attached to staying in a hotel and our staff provide an efficient and friendly service. The hotel whilst situated in the very heart of Exeter has its own parking, a secluded walled garden and is only 400 yards from the Cathedral so there are endless beautiful backdrops for your wedding photographs.

We are licensed for weddings in both dining rooms and in the Mint Meeting room. Alternatively, the larger wedding can be accommodated in our main dining room, with the sun streaming through the Georgian bay window and the bride and groom reflected in the mirrors at the far end of the room.

Conference Rooms and Business Facilities tailored to suit your needs

The hotel has three conference rooms in addition to the Mint meeting Room. The Mint Building, situated in the grounds of the hotel dates back to 1067 when it was built as a Catholic Priory by William the Conqueror. After the reformation it was used as a merchants house and a poor house before being completely restored in 2001. The building also provides an unusual Meeting and Conference room which still retains its medieval beams although now equipped for modern conference facilities but with the added bonus of working and dining in the oldest inhabited building in Exeter.

Special delegate rates are available both on a meeting only basis, with meals and refreshments and to include overnight accommodation. The usual conference and secretarial facilities are available to delegates.

The Treasury Restaurant, named to mark the fact that Charles II's coins were minted close by is open for lunch and dinner and offers both a short but interesting snack menu and two and three course meals.

Coffee and homemade sweets are included in the menu. The small, intimate bar offers the usual range of beers, lagers and spirits plus some interesting local wines and some unusual dessert wines including the famous Canadian Ice Wine and smooth vintage ports.
