Country House Hotel – Newton Abbot

The Passage House Country Hotel is a new Devon Hotel but there has been a hostelry on this site welcoming travellers since Roman times. They used to arrive with their packhorses and wait to use the tidal ford to cross the River Teign. In later years a granite railway was built to link the quarries on Dartmoor with the Stover Canal and the river was a hive of activity with the lightermen and bargees busy working the estuary and canals.

The setting for this fine country hotel is stunning. Standing on the northern bank of the Teign at the top of the estuary, the Passage House Hotel has a panoramic east-west view. Every facet of the building has been designed to take advantage of the light and superb views.
