The Arundell Arms Hotel

Created by our head chef, Steven Pidgeon, who has the rare honour of being elected one of only 80 Master Chefs of Great Britain, food is always meticulously prepared and beautifully presented.

Using only the finest quality produce, which is sourced from local suppliers, Steven has gained an excellent reputation - locally and nationally - for creating outstanding modern British cuisine.

The Arundell Arms is the perfect venue for a country house wedding in the glorious Devon countryside. We are licenced for civil ceremonies so whether you're looking for a romantic setting for your wedding day or the exclusive use of the hotel for an intimate reception, we will ensure that your special occasion is one to remember.

 Having hosted many wonderful weddings over the years, we have an excellent list of local suppliers - from florists to hair and beauty therapists - at hand to make your day run smoothly.

Located in the tranquil Devon village of Lifton and only 5 minutes from the A30, The Arundell Arms is ideally located for guests from Devon and Cornwall and beyond the South West.

The hotel offers 21 ensuite bedrooms all individually designed with English country house décor and period furniture, but with modern amenities such as flatscreen televisions and Wi-Fi access. Parking is available for 80 cars and the hotel has disabled access throughout the ground floor ( including four ground floor bedrooms)

The hotel's Tamar Room can accommodate 80 guests, while the Drawing Room can be used for your reception by up to 100 guests and has direct access to the hotel's terraced garden and patio area. For a summer wedding, the hotel gardens are ideal for entertaining your guests with live music, cocktails and canapés.

In the hotel restaurant, you and your guests will enjoy one of the finest dining experiences in England with exciting menus prepared by Masterchef Steven Pidgeon and his team. Guests with any dietary requirements or allergies are individually catered for, with carefully selected vegetarian, vegan and children's menus also available.

An intimate dining experience for smaller weddings can be captured in the hotel's two private dining rooms. The smallest - The Ottery Room - is ideal for parties of up to eight looking for a private dining experience with just close friends and family.

With its proximity to the A30, The Arundell Arms is ideally located for business meetings from across the South West. Ample conference and function facilities are available across four rooms, the largest - The Tamar Room - can accommodate 100 delegates, while the smallest - The Ottery Room - is ideal for a meeting of up to eight people and equipment.  

The Tamar room is a self-contained suite with lobby and cloakrooms with direct access from the hotel car park and disabled access. Three of our meeting rooms have ground floor access and all benefit from natural daylight.

Free parking is available for 80 cars, with each of the conference rooms including Wi-Fi access, flip chart and pens and direct-dial telephone. A digital projector is also available if required.
 

The hotel has been owned and run since 1961 by Anne Voss-Bark. A former winner of the Woman Hotelier of the Year Award, she was honoured in 1994 to receive the M.B.E. for services to tourism. She is herself a keen fisherman and was recently presented with a lifetime Achievement Award for services to Angling.

In 2006 she celebrated the prestigious award presented from the Good Hotel Guide of "Sporting Hotel of the Year." Her book "West Country Fly Fishing," a collection of essays by experts and friends including Ted Hughes, Dermot Wilson, Brian Clarke and her late husband Conrad Voss Bark, is considered a classic.

The kitchen is headed by Master Chef of Great Britain, Steven Pidgeon supported by a talented and enthusiastic young team.

The Arundell Arms fishing is looked after by David Pilkington and Tim Smith who are not only outstanding fishermen but have taught over thousands of men and women, boys and girls to fish.

We are particularly proud that many of our staff have been with us for many years and one of our greatest pleasures is when our guests return.
