Michael Caines Restaurant – Exeter Restaurant
Exeter is the hometown of Michael Caines restaurant, and Abode hotels. Exeter is something of a spiritual home, for all our beliefs about hospitality, food and wine were first developed and put into place here. Central to this is Michael's philosophy that good food is inclusive not exclusive and must be accessible at all levels, from the Michael Caines Restaurant and Champagne and Cocktail Bar, to the more informal Café Bar, lively Well House Tavern, and MC Boutique for gourmet takeaway.
Michael Caines for Lunch ...
This Exeter Restaurant has established a reputation locally for serving the best 2- or 3-course lunch in the city. The short lunch menu changes daily or weekly, depending on what is available and in season, and gives a real taste of our stylish and high quality cuisine at an excellent value price. Moreover, we respect the busy demands on your time and guarantee to serve you lunch — two courses with coffee should you wish — within one hour. Should time not be an issue, then you are naturally invited to linger over your meal as long as you like.

Restaurant & Bars:
Michael Caines Restaurant (AA Rosette)
The Royal Clarence, overlooking Exeter's magnificent Cathedral, provides a stunning setting for what has already become Exeter's premier dining venue. The light and spacious dining room is at once beautiful yet not overly formal. This sets the tone for Michael Caines cuisine that is similarly considered, produced from the freshest seasonal and local produce and ingredients.
MC Café Bar
As the first MC Café Bar, we have helped to define a concept that has huge appeal. Our aim is to serve quality foods from impeccably sourced produce and ingredients, prepared freshly and carefully by our skilled team of chefs. This means that if you simply pop in for a cappuccino and a piece of chocolate cake, we offer you the best cappuccino in town. In the evenings, the atmosphere of the Café Bar changes as the lights are dimmed and the evening menu replaces the daytime menu aswell as live music during the weekends.
Michael Caines Champagne Bar
Our sophisticated city centre Champagne and Cocktail Bar has become one of the places in Exeter to drop in to, any time of day or night. We offer an extensive choice of Champagnes by the glass, bottle, magnum or larger bottle size and a fantastic range of fresh cocktails.
Well House Tavern
This historic tavern, located adjacent to The Royal Clarence, has probably been serving traditional ales and foods to Exonians as well as to visitors to Devon's capital city for literally centuries. The Well House is a popular lunchtime venue for superior pub food. Our traditional 'Well House pye' is legendary, while our 'not so traditional' fish and chunky Devon chips is definitely the best in town.
MC Boutique
MC Boutiques are the source of outstanding foods ready to take away and enjoy. Duck confit and chicken caesar wraps, delicious sandwiches and hot panini, pies, pastries, cakes, pâtisseries and more are all carefully and freshly prepared by our talented chefs in our award-winning kitchens daily.
We are delighted to offer gourmet takeaway foods prepared to order and delivered direct to your office, boardroom or workplace. Delivery is free for a minimum order. We can also cater for evening functions on request.
