The restaurant's superb food is the main reason for the inn's popularity. Customers travel from miles around to enjoy lunch or dinner at the Thelbridge. The daily changing menu offers a wide and varied choice of dishes, home cooked using fresh ingredients by chef patronne Ria Ball and her team. A number of the ingredients used are home-grown in the inn's own vegetable garden. Diners can choose to eat in the warm and comfortable Dining Room which seats 40, or more informally in the bar dining area which has seating for up to 30. The menus change on a daily basis according to the fresh produce available and wherever possible, locally sourced foods are used. The A la Carte menu offers a range of delicious starters, main courses and desserts. In addition, there is a specials blackboard from which more traditional pub food can be selected, and a separate children’s menu and a bar snack menu for those wanting just a quick sandwich or salad.

The elegant Dukes function suite opened in 2004, and is the perfect venue for functions of any variety, but is particularly suited to wedding receptions. The main room is fully air-conditioned, sound-proofed and has its own private bar. The room will hold up to 120 guests for a seated meal, or 200 for a standing event. The Thelbridge Cross Inn is centrally located right in the heart of Devon for easy access from all areas, north, south east and west. The venue is ideal for those who seek to hold their conference somewhere a little more special than a standard chain hotel in a grey built-up area. The stunning un-spoilt countryside surrounding the hotel will make a refreshing and relaxing change. The ample free parking available behind the hotel is not always available in town and city venues. As an alternative to the larger Function suite, the Dining Room is also available for use for small to medium-sized meetings and conferences. The Thelbridge Cross Inn is a picturesque, family-run country inn located amongst the glorious rolling hills of Mid-Devon. It dates back to the 1700's and is built of stone and cob, with beamed ceilings and open log fires. It still has that old world feel about it today, especially when the Lorna Doone stagecoach arrives with passengers who stop off to sample the outstanding cuisine and genuine warm hospitality. The inn boasts fabulous countryside views, and on a clear day, Dartmoor can be seen to the south and Exmoor to the north.
Thelbridge is a rural hamlet, off the beaten track, two miles from the village of Witheridge which lies on the B3137 between Tiverton and South Molton. Thelbridge is made up of mainly farms and a few scattered cottages, and the Thelbridge Cross Inn is at the heart of rural life here. Thelbridge Church is just a short walk down one of the several pretty country lanes around the inn which can be explored by visitors.
