The impressive five-star rating comes just a year after the prestigious property opened its doors in April 2016. The AA describe the hotel as a ‘very special place’ and were impressed with the ‘hands-on vision’ from acclaimed chef and owner, Michael Caines.
The stunning Georgian mansion overlooking the Exe estuary is home to 21 bedrooms and was accepted into Relais & Châteaux after only three months of being open, followed by a Michelin star after only six months of operating.
In July 2017, the hotel pledged to recycle or recover 100% of waste across its bedrooms and fine-dining restaurant in a new partnership.
Earlier this year, the hotel announced that it is to plant a vineyard within its estate, which will eventually result in the production of classic Champagne-method sparkling wines in 2023.
Speaking of the new AA rating, Caines said: “We are so proud to have received a five star AA rating at Lympstone Manor. Since opening the hotel in April last year the team has continued to work hard to offer every guest a fantastic experience so it’s great to see our offering reflected by this prestigious accolade. This is a huge achievement for us and we’re honoured to now hold five AA stars.”
Gary Baldwin, senior hotel and restaurant inspector and area manager commented: “Our inspectors were impressed with the physical quality of the property, a true hands-on vision from Michael, excellent attention to detail and quality noted throughout. This official star grading is only the beginning of the Lympstone journey, with exciting plans ahead to make this an even greater destination.”
With 21 stunning guestrooms, three beautiful and individual dining rooms in which to savour Michael’s acclaimed cuisine matched with a world-class wine cellar, 28 acres of gardens, grounds and parkland all set in the beauty and tranquility of East Devon and the Jurassic Coast, a stay at Lympstone Manor is a totally exceptional experience.
