The River Restaurant at Dart Marina
DINING BY THE RIVER
From daybreak to starry nights, morning toast to evening champagne, feeding the soul comes very high up the list at Dart Marina. The land, river and sea wrapped around Dart Marina give inspiration to the head chef every day. From freshly caught fish and seafood, to carefully produced meat from the surrounding pastures of the South Hams, rich dairy produce from local farms to innovative juices from local orchards – seasonal, local, fresh, distinctive – these simple values are at the heart of all the menus.
BAR & TERRACE
Dart Marina has to be the most perfect spot for lunch; on the Terrace, relaxing in the Bar or by the waterfront at Cloud Nine, our new pop-up bar – the River and boats glide by giving every reason to relax, sit back and simply drink in the view. There’s a menu which can be enjoyed in peace and quiet or shared with family and friends; especially good is a huge Seafood sharing platter which is a celebration of all things crustacean! Pop a cork or two to make a lunch party complete.
There’s a point in the afternoon when thoughts turn to cake. At Dart Marina tea is almost a ritual; but thankfully without the need to wear a tie! Light as a feather scones with luscious Devon clotted cream are just the cherry on the cake. There are delicate finger sandwiches, tiny pots of savoury deliciousness, exquisite home-made pastries truly worthy of a cake fork and macaroons that mesmerise. Every leaf tea has been chosen with immense care and the menu is exceptional; there’s even a fabulous Hendricks Tea which, enjoyed outside by the River in the sunshine, is a real G & T moment!
The River Restaurant at Dart Marina has a kind of magic all of its own with a view that is simply breath-taking. Dinner is very special but never stuffy. The atmosphere is relaxed; the food exceptional. Every dish is chosen to herald the South Hams landscape; from sea to river, pasture to orchard. As each season arrives, so does produce at its very best. Fish landed and delivered to chef often within an hour, meat and game chosen carefully to offer superb depth of flavour, sauces made from stocks slowly simmered for hours, bread and desserts created each day from scratch. It’s hard to describe the detail the Head Chef goes to, but it can be tasted in every mouthful.
